Snoozenet, A USENET Server For JavaSnoozenet is a USENET server written in Java. It implements just enough to be functional. More features will come eventually, but at the moment, it at least works. It supports multiple newsgroups, posting and replying to articles, and other basic features. It has been tested to work in Mozilla Thunderbird, Microsoft Outlook for Windows 98, and Microsoft Outlook Express for Windows XP. In those clients, almost all commonly used functions should be fully supported. If you find a function that isn't supported, please report it on Github. Snoozenet currently supports none of the server-to-server functionality of NNTP. It is unlikely that this will ever be added. My current usecase for Snoozenet is to have an isolated USENET instance. I do not have the ability to fedarate with USENET proper, so support for this will likely never be added. DownloadsPre-built binaries are not currently available since Snoozenet is still so early in development. However, the source code is published on Github. | Collin McKinley |
